Wilderness Medicine Continuing Medical Education (CME)
Enjoy Autumn Beauty, Fly Fishing and Wildlife Viewing in Cache Creek
September 3–6, 2010 (SOLD OUT - Contact us for 2011)
We are excited to offer an opportunity for physicians and medical professionals to receive CME credit while enjoying one of our best backcountry pack trips. The backcountry experience of Yellowstone is not sacrificed by the education component of this trip. Courses are presented while meals are prepared or while gathered around the campfire after a full day exploring the wilderness.
We feel privileged to announce that Luanne Freer, MD, FACEP, FAWM directs the education portion of this trip. Dr. Freer is best known as the founder and director of the base camp medical clinic on Mt. Everest. She has amassed a wealth of knowledge in treating medical emergencies in a harsh environment — at an elevation of 17,500 feet in a remote wilderness of a third world country. Read more about the Mt. Everest Base Camp Medical Clinic.
In addition to her experience on Mt. Everest, Dr. Freer has worked in Yellowstone National Park since 1992 and is currently serves as the Park Medical Director. She is the past president of the Wilderness Medical Society and has taught wilderness medicine courses for physicians around the world for 14 years.
Dr. Freer will be joined by Gary Matthews, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who specializes in the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. You can read more about Gary’s practice.
