Wilderness Pack Trips, as a licensed outfitter, provides horseback riding day tours in Yellowstone National Park. We offer exclusive horseback riding day tours in Yellowstone National Park for a minimum of four guests and a maximum of eight guests.  Singles and couples will be mixed into groups of similar riding ability and interest.  Private horseback rides for groups of four or more can be arranged.  The locations for these day rides will be selected based on your interests, experience level and trail conditions.  Rides are based primarily in the Northern half of Yellowstone Park.  Yellowstone Park horseback riding tours are all led by owner, Mike Thompson, to provide you the best experience for your day in Yellowstone's Backcountry.

Our small groups and diverse horseback riding areas illustrate the difference between a day riding head to tail with 20 other people, being led down the same old trail for 3-4 hours; or a great day searching and exploring Yellowstone, off the beaten trail.  Because of our excellent history of "low impact" horseback travel with Yellowstone's Backcountry Management, we are frequently given "special permission" to travel into seldom seen, off trail areas of Yellowstone.

Yellowstone Day Ride Locations:

• Rescue Creek- June, An excellent early season ride for bighorn sheep, antelope, elk, bison and wildflowers. 
  
• Hayden Valley- Late June, Great family ride! Remote thermals, vast herds of bison, grizzly bear, elk and wolves inhabit this area.
  
• Swan Lake-Late June, Another great family ride, majestic views of Electric Peak, bison, and elk.
  
• Lamar Valley, Remote ride for wildlife including: wolves, grizzly bear, elk and bison.

All reservations are confirmed by a 50% non refundable deposit.

Rides begin at 9 am, lunch is included at a great location and concludes around 3:30 pm.

We have a 240# weight limit for all day rides and pack trips.  You must be physically and medically fit enough to be able to mount and dismount your riding horse.
